And here is the connection of the other
peninsula to the section of layout along the wall. This is the
first of the two peninsulas that you saw in previous photos.
The City of Willis will be along the wall, and the Louisiana Central
yard and engine facilities will be on the peninsula. That
"table top" perched above the L-girder frame by the wall is
temporary; it's a Homasote/plywood lamination from an older layout
that I've been using as a test track, and to experiment with track
placement. I'll likely use that material somewhere in the new
construction. Even though it dates back to the mid 80s, it's
still in excellent condition. |
