This is an overall view inside the
alcove. Both the Louisiana Central and the Spencer trackage
will make a 180 degree turn in this area. The track at right
is coming out of Whitcomb, and the track at left is from
Oneida. These are the two tightest curves on both
systems: the Louisiana Central curve is about a 28" radius and
the Spencer line curves at a 20" radius. To make things more
difficult, both lines are on a grade: about 1.8% for the LCRR
and 2.5% for the Spencer trackage. It will take some power to
get up those grades! |
