{"id":506,"date":"2015-01-06T14:53:12","date_gmt":"2015-01-06T20:53:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/?p=506"},"modified":"2019-01-31T11:32:46","modified_gmt":"2019-01-31T17:32:46","slug":"dressing-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/2015\/01\/06\/dressing-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Dressing Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had mentioned a few weeks ago that I&#8217;d post some photos of the <a title=\"A New Drill Press (and other ramblings)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/2014\/12\/21\/a-new-drill-press-and-other-ramblings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new fascia<\/a> being installed on the layout.\u00a0 However, progress had come to an abrupt halt as available time to work on the fascia coincided with rain.\u00a0 I do all my cutting outside these days to avoid sawdust collecting in the train room.\u00a0 Yesterday however, the sun was out and Wayne came over for a short work session.\u00a0 We knocked out another section of the fascia, giving a total of about 22 installed feet now.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll put in one last eight foot length next weekend (weather permitting), and that will do it for a while.\u00a0 The balance of benchwork has track switches and plenty of under table work remaining.\u00a0 Fascia there would just be in the way.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Fascia-Maynard-East_01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-504\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Fascia-Maynard-East_01.jpg\" alt=\"Fascia Nearing Maynard\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Fascia-Maynard-East_01.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Fascia-Maynard-East_01-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Fascia-Maynard-East_01-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nWhat a difference even this unpainted Masonite makes!\u00a0 I won&#8217;t be painting it for a while though, as I&#8217;d like to get some of the hole cutting (for panels and throttle plug-ins) done first.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Fascia-Maynard-East_02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-505\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Fascia-Maynard-East_02.jpg\" alt=\"Fascia at Maynard\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Fascia-Maynard-East_02.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Fascia-Maynard-East_02-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Fascia-Maynard-East_02-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nPanning left a bit from the previous view, the fascia extends up through Maynard.\u00a0 Those &#8220;panels&#8221; you see are just mock-ups for me to study.\u00a0 They&#8217;re merely photocopies taped to the fascia.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t decided yet whether to recess the panels, or just surface mount them.\u00a0 Since I&#8217;m close to needing some now, I suppose I&#8217;d best make the decision soon.\u00a0 I&#8217;m also mulling over what color I&#8217;ll be using for the fascia.\u00a0 I&#8217;m leaning toward a dark greenish-grey, but nothing is off the table yet (except flat black).<\/p>\n<p><em>-Jack<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had mentioned a few weeks ago that I&#8217;d post some photos of the new fascia being installed on the layout.\u00a0 However, progress had come to an abrupt halt as available time to work on the fascia coincided with rain.\u00a0 &hellip;
