{"id":490,"date":"2014-12-05T23:01:28","date_gmt":"2014-12-06T05:01:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/?p=490"},"modified":"2015-03-15T15:25:49","modified_gmt":"2015-03-15T20:25:49","slug":"kcs-holiday-express","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/2014\/12\/05\/kcs-holiday-express\/","title":{"rendered":"KCS Holiday Express"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last Friday I went over to Baton Rouge with my daughter and her family to visit the Kansas City Southern Railroad&#8217;s <em>Holiday Express <\/em>train.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/KCS-Holiday-Train.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-491\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/KCS-Holiday-Train.jpg\" alt=\"KCS Holiday Train\" width=\"534\" height=\"401\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/KCS-Holiday-Train.jpg 534w, https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/KCS-Holiday-Train-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/KCS-Holiday-Train-399x300.jpg 399w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 534px) 100vw, 534px\" \/><\/a>This is really a fun train to see for both kids and adults.\u00a0 My three grand kids enjoyed the spectacle despite the extremely long wait in line to go inside the train.\u00a0 But it was worth the wait.\u00a0 There are two cabooses and a boxcar (the reindeer stable) that are heavily decorated inside with just about anything you can think of with a Christmas theme: colorful lights and ornaments, Santa Clauses, winter scenes, holiday villages, two O scale and one HO scale train layouts (lots of fun to watch), Christmas trees, and just way too many other things to list here.<\/p>\n<p>Outside the train sits Santa Claus.\u00a0 And while waiting in line to see Santa, one can enjoy the large scale model train running around the flat car that displays the huge lit-up Santa sleigh and the reindeer.<\/p>\n<p>My oldest grand daughter is nearly twelve now and is in that grey area of belief vs. disbelief in Santa.\u00a0 Well, &#8216;ole St. Nick would not hear of it.\u00a0 He sensed her hesitation and whispered something in her ear.\u00a0 Later we asked what he told her.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;When you quit believing, you start getting socks and underwear for Christmas.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/biggrin.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-70\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/biggrin.gif\" alt=\"biggrin\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>-Jack<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last Friday I went over to Baton Rouge with my daughter and her family to visit the Kansas City Southern Railroad&#8217;s Holiday Express train.
