{"id":1791,"date":"2019-08-25T10:38:39","date_gmt":"2019-08-25T15:38:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/?p=1791"},"modified":"2019-08-25T10:38:39","modified_gmt":"2019-08-25T15:38:39","slug":"south-water-street-at-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/2019\/08\/25\/south-water-street-at-night\/","title":{"rendered":"South Water Street at Night"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Back in March of this year I posted a Jack Delano image of the the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/2019\/03\/17\/i-c-freight-depot-chicago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Illinois Central freight depot (opens in a new tab)\">Illinois Central freight depot<\/a> in Chicago, Illinois.  Looming in the background of that photograph is the huge Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer neon sign, complete with a clock.  Mr. Delano had also visited that location earlier during the night in April of 1943.  And on that night he recorded the sign in all of it&#8217;s night time glory, resplendent in all of it&#8217;s vibrant colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking closely below the sign we can make out the image of a string of reefers (refrigerator cars) lurking in the dark shadows of the yard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/ICRR-S-Water-St-at-Night.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lacentralrr.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/ICRR-S-Water-St-at-Night.jpg\" alt=\"ICRR S.
