Over the years I've acquired four Dremel
Moto-Tools, each of which came with an assortment of bits, accessories,
and tool parts. And each time I needed a bit or accessory, I'd spend
more time rummaging through the tools cases where the tidbits were stored
than actually doing the work. So I cobbled this rack together from
"scraps of scraps" (literally). I liked the finished result so much
that I caved at the end and shot a coat of paint on the thing.

I took a partially tiered approach
to laying out the rack. Each of the two tiers has a double
row of holes for the bits. I used a 9/64" bit to drill the
holes for the 1/8" shafts. An 1/8" hole is a bit snug and
since I ended up painting the assembly, I'm glad I did use the
larger holes as the paint likely would have made an 1/8" hole too snug.
I drilled a few holes larger to have a place for holding the
collets and extra collet nuts. I added the end piece so I'd
have a place to hang my collet nut wrenches.

And here's the view showing the
other end. The blue plastic box came with my last motor tool
purchase. I simply screwed it to the rack and will use it to
hold sanding drums, polishing pads, etc.
I screwed some small rubber feet onto the bottom to keep the rack
from sliding around. |
